The permanent secretary of Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has urged every educational advocate to consider working on programmes and activities that will positively affect the lives of students inside the classroom.
Baboucarr Bouye was addressing delegates of the Education for All Campaign Network, The Gambia general assembly where he suggested for them to strengthen their governance structures as they seek to select new badge of leadership in August 14, 2010 at Paradise Hotel in Kololi.
At the Ministry of Basic and Secondary School level “whatever we do, if it does not affect the child in the classroom, then all our efforts will be going in vain”, he said.
The Permanent Secretary “knows” that “it is very easy for us to carry out a business and forget that whatever we do must reflect in the class room” concerning the drive towards the universal primary education target.
As an advocate group fast-tracking progress towards the Millennium Development Goal of universal primary education by 2015, he said “if you cannot find an answer on how would what you do affect positively the life of the child in the classroom, then you should step down”.
In order to fully remain focus to the target group of the campaign for education, Mr Bouye believe that players in the sector must first of all agree to share the same Vision and Mission and ensure a huge commitment to it.
“You must think of how to brand your advocacy work in a way that every member of the organisation will be prepared to sell and every one prepared to buy”, he indicated.
